Who is the boss in your marriage? Maybe, you could say with excitation: “I am the boss!” But the reality is that if you say that you are the boss, the center of your family, and maybe the center of the universe… You are leading a dysfunctional family.

In a well-functioning family, parents lead the family together, husband and wife as equals.

Historically, women have been prone to be diminish by men. This have been motivated by the false idea that man is the boss of the home, and he is the priesthood of home. Man is the priesthood at home, but the Lord said: “when we undertake to cover our sins, or to gratify our pride, our vain ambition, or to exercise control or dominion or compulsion upon the souls of the children of men, in any degree of unrighteousness, behold, the heavens withdraw themselves; the Spirit of the Lord is grieved; and when it is withdrawn, Amen to the priesthood or the authority of that man.” Elder M. Russell Ballard added: “Priesthood is about service, not servitude; compassion, not compulsion; caring, not control.”

The gospel of Jesus Christ help us to overcome pride, and selfishness, and become one as husband and wife. The gift of the Holy Ghost, the sacraments, the reading of scriptures, and family prayers help us to overcome the natural man, and become one flesh as the Lord say.
