Beware of Pride

10:16 a.m.

“In the scriptures, there is no such thing as righteous pride—it is always considered a sin.” Ezra Taft Benson.

This Benson´s quote is to ponder because sometimes we are deceived by Satan, who invite us to be pride arguing that it is necessary to consider us better that our fellowmen to reach a better status, benefits, and power.

Regarding to power, we find in D&C 121:41-43: “No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned; By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile— Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy.”

Along my life, I have listen and watch stories of men who didn’t understand how to use the priesthood to lead their families. They thought that they have the right to lead their families without the counsel of their wives. Sadly, their stories end in divorce or great familiar conflicts.

In contrast, during my life, I have seen how my father has listened the counsel of my mother, and this has been a blessing not just for my father, but to all the family. Hear the counsel of my mom has bring to our family protection of unnecessary debts, bad decisions, etc.

Humility plays an important role to be far of pride. So, it is important that we develop it. Some ideas to develop humility are: study the words of prophets, repent us, praise, fast, and serve others.
